Founder-led work: what it really means
No layers between intention and street—proximity, honesty, and the cost of tomatoes this week. Grassroots is not a font choice on a poster: it is knowing the lane, the heat, and who you stood beside when the day ran long.
Large NGOs do essential work at scale; their kitchens and audits save lives. Eyalvathu Karavel is different by design: it is intentionally small, intentionally direct, and led by one person who packs bags, answers messages, and stands in line with everyone else when the day runs long.
That choice has trade-offs. There is no department for “optics.” There is no buffer between a mistake and its repair. But there is also no drift: the mission cannot float away from the street because the street is where it was born.
Founder-led does not mean alone forever. It means the door is open for volunteers, partners, and donors who want clarity—who want to know that their support lands in hands, not hierarchy. As we grow, we will formalise what must be formalised, without forgetting why we started: to be close enough to hear a child ask for water, and to carry it the same day.
